ERITREAN LANGUAGE & SPORTS PROGRAM

This program is an initiative to help Eritrean children in Australia to learn their language and their culture. The aim of the program is to educate Eritrean children their language and keep them connected with their heritage and so that they can be productive members of their community. The objectives of this program are to increase basic knowledge on academic vocabulary, to increase reading, writing, speaking and grammar knowledge of the Eritrean language(s).

POLICIES & CODE OF CONDUCT

Guidelines for Parents, Teachers and Students

This program has policies on Harassment, Discrimination and Equal opportunities for all students, parents and teachers.
The aim of these guidelines is to ensure all the venues used by this program is safe and secured environment for everyone.
The objective of this program is to educate kids from an Eritrean background their language and cultures.
This is a non-political and non-religious program and any Eritrean kids no matter what religion or tribe are welcomed.
The guidelines acknowledge the responsibility of everyone to act in an appropriate and socially acceptable manner.
Any breaches and incidents involving these guidelines will be investigated thoroughly and impartially.
Abusive and violent behaviours will not be tolerated and accepted.

The following behaviours will be subject to disciplinary procedures.

  • Absenteeism
  • Being late to school and sport programs
  • Leaving school early without any permission
  • Taking breaks outside your allocated break time
  • Failure to advice the school if you are unable to attend school and sport program.

The following behaviours will be subject to suspension and expulsion

  • Fighting or inciting fights
  • Abuse of any kind
  • Verbal and physical abuse
  • Refusing direction of teachers and managements

The following are conditions to joining the Program and Membership

  • Any Eritrean kids in school age can join the program as students
  • Kids must be Eritrean or from an Eritrean background
  • Fees/payments to be discussed
  • Parents must provide their kids with tools for schooling
  • School fees must be paid on the agreed amount and timeframes
  • Community Support

Community Support and Participation

To ensure the ongoing success of this program, we need the support from the entire community. Every parent is encouraged to motivate their children to attend school regularly and to recommend this language school to other parents. Your active participation and support are crucial in making this program a thriving and enriching environment for all our children. Together, we can foster a strong sense of community and preserve our culture and heritage for future generation.
